beach boys ... and a girl

Do you know I can do gift certificates - yeah I'm fancy like that! This family received the gift of photos from some friends of theirs for their birthday and these are the results. Need a last minute gift - I could whip you up a little gift certificate and email it to you today - nothing easier than that right?

busy busy boy

Last weekend I met this adorable little boy named Logan to take some photos. Well Logan had other things in mind as adventure seems to be his middle name! So I quickly gave up on trying to get him to sit still and simply tried to capture his spirit. We didn't end up with that perfectly posed picture, but that wouldn't be Logan - instead some great photos of him exploring.

at the beach

This past Sunday evening I met a family down at the beach and let me tell you it was photographer central. I'm finding that this is definitely the busy season as I have certainly been doing lots of mini shoots for families to get some nice photos to send out for their holiday card. I've been having a great time working with many old friends and some new friends too. When I met the Lindsay's down at the beach the first thing Lisa said was she wanted to do some more photo-journalistic styled photos and not too posed = fun for me! Its always fun to mix it up a bit. We braved the wind and even a little water time for some great shots.

In my studio

I did a few mini shoots with a more in studio look a week or so ago -really just my living room with a backdrop and some lights and I am happy with how they turned out.

This first family is our good friends the Howe's and you can catch Andrea's blog here for crafting, food and fashion.

I love the above pic of Taylor - so pretty! And the Cinema filter below looks fun on these, fitting since Art was a film major:

I also had my first session with a pet in this studio session. Little Darby did great and seemed to love the camera with Delaney and Samantha, who is the girls hair stylist - they love visiting her salon!

Good friends

I had a chance to take some pictures for some great friends this past weekend. After a morning wrangling 4 little girls into a family photo 1 kid was a piece of cake!

We went down to Gum Grove Park in Seal Beach, which although it is just behind a residential neighborhood it looks like a secluded area with great trees and nice light just before sunset.

Although technically this next one is way blown out I love the airy light you get when shooting directly into the sun at Sunset

Muse

You know how artists and designers speak about having a muse, well I may have found mine - the Ireland girls. Great eyes, unbelievable poses and such personality! I took some photos of them again this past weekend with their cousins and grandparents - thanks for the fun Irelands.

Family mini shoots

I have been very busy over the past few weekends fitting in some mini shoots for families to get just the right shot for their Holiday Card. It has been lots of fun, always crazy with little kiddos in the mix, and at times this unpredictable weather has gotten in our way, but each mini shoot has yielded some great shots. Here are a few of my favorites minus a few that will be going to mailboxes near you.

You may remember this family from a few months ago - little Q is growing up!

It's not too late if you are interested in scheduling a mini shoot or full session to get some photos for holiday cards and gifts.

Angel Baby

My little niece has arrived and she will have a very well documented life as I hone my photography skills. So loved and so sweet!

Welcome to the world little one, we love you!

Super K at the Beach

I've known this family for several years and this first shot reminds me of when Kiran was a little tyke.

I got to share the beautiful Sunset at Seal Beach with this lovely family.

This next one is one of my favorites in the group!

Super K couldn't be stopped - the water was no match for him - I love that he went for it into the water! Not so sure his parents loved it as much as me, but the photos are so fun! (I'm slightly addicted to the expired instant filter in CameraBag.)

Gotta love a little sunflare! The little rainbows in the image are sunflare....

Until next time.

maternity shots

I did my first session of maternity photos for my sister this past week. She is due in less than a month, which I think is a nice time to take maternity shots. We raced down to Manhattan Beach to catch the sunset and only had about 30 minutes of light to get the photos done. I am super pleased with the results. Of course it helps that the subject is my sis, she is beautiful, and we had gorgeous light as well.

I can't wait to share some photos of baby A when she arrives!

the dysarts

A Saturday morning taking photos of a gorgeous family, complete with an orange chair (love this sidewalk find!!) and cupcakes = lots of fun!

This family has theatrics in their blood with dancing, performing and directing as a few of their talents. So we decided to take some photos on stage at the park, a few at home and finished up with some treats at Frosted.

thanks for the fun Dysarts - CHEERS to you!

Quinn's Family

Remember this adorable little guy?

I got to take photos of Quinn's whole family and we had a great time in "nature" as mini Miranda liked to refer to our trek around the park.

These are some of my favorites from the day.

Book a family shoot for July for $85 for the session including 75 edited images.

Baby William

I had the pleasure of taking some photos of the adorable and chunky baby William today. There is nothing better than a baby with rolls! He was such a trooper, he didn't even fuss once. Here are a few of my favorites.

A little love from Big Sis!

And Mama too.

I'll leave you with a cute little toosh and some baby drool.
